vintage French confit preserve pots | lug handle
A delightfully simple and honest design, each pot was hand made on the potter’s wheel in France in the early 1900s. Â No two pots are ever identical and they bear the makers marks in terms of imperfections, fingerprints and irregularities to the glazed surface. Â Used originally to store preserved food these wonderfully sturdy utilitarian objects are very collectable as each is unique and each region of France had a slightly different style dependant on the local clay used.
Some are cream, some are brown and they always have a hint of gray to the surface. We use these preserve jars for a variety of purposes around the home; as vases, plant pots, utensil holders and dish brush holders.
