Large Syrian antique urn | Jabal

This lovely antique urn is over a century old. Its beautiful rotund shape and exquisite patina mark it it as a truly special and unique hand built pot.

Originally used to store food and to cook food this lovely historic item is now a stand alone work of art on a large scale.

Most commonly seen adorning the steps and patios of coastal Mediterranean homes. They look beautiful and very sculptural completely empty inside the home but can also be used outdoors planted with olive trees or trailing plants.

Full of character, these uniquely original pots would sit perfectly as part of a display on a sideboard or console table. Alternatively, place it on the floor and fill with your favourite stems and branches.

Over a hundred years old, the surface of pots such as this one can be textured, pitted and flaky with loose paintwork. Traces of white residue sometimes remain where they have been previously painted. Originally used to store liquids, traces of olive oil are often evident inside the pots.

Please expect a vintage imperfect condition. Each pot is handmade and features fabulous rustic earthy tones. Delightfully imperfect, these pots are soft, smooth and tactile to the touch. These distinctive ancient pots have imperfections aplenty, so please embrace their individuality and beauty and expect historic chips, cracks and repairs.
