Large American tin Artwork Ohio – 90×120 cm

A fabulous patchwork / mosaic artwork comprising of 80 year old American pressed tin ceiling tiles our large American tin tile artwork Ohio is a one of kind item.

These tiles were used to line ceilings and walls in the United States from the 1920’s to the 1940’s. They were designed to emulate elaborate plaster-work and and are sometimes referred to as ‘poor mans plaster’.

Each square tile has been cut by hand from a larger repeat tile.  Carefully mounted onto a plywood background this amazing collection of historic tiles is ready to hang in your home.  A unique patchwork of historic and decorative interest.  Each piece is entirely unique and you will never find two artworks which are the same.

Rusty and imperfect – please expect some flaking paintwork and uneven, less than perfect edges.

There are no fixings to the rear of the artwork, please allow for adding your own if you wish to hang this item on a wall. Of course it can be simply leant against a wall too.

The backing is made from timber around which the tile edges have been wrapped.

This artwork can be hung portrait or landscape in orientation.
