Antique Hand Carved Saddled & Bridled Horse

This charming and majestic timber hand carved horse was made as a casting mold for model making.  A unique, one of a kind decorative antique.  We believe it dates from the early 1900s and was found in Belgium.

A maquette (the French word for a scale model, sometimes referred to by the Italian names plastico or modello) is a small scale model or rough draft of an unfinished sculpture. An equivalent term is bozzetto, from the Italian word that means “sketch”.

This genuine antique has a wonderful rustic weathered patina. A wonderful decorators accent, stylist’s prop or quirky decorative antique.  This unique horse model would look wonderful on top of a console table.

Please expect the condition of this horse to be worn, it’s in unrestored condition and that’s how it needs to stay.  It’s charm is in its imperfections.  These horses often have at least one missing limb  (please refer to the images for details on condition).

This horse is not suitable for children to play with.
