Description
Antique carved model Horse | Wall mounted
This charming and majestic timber hand carved horse head and shoulders was made as a casting mould for model making. A unique, one-of-a-kind decorative antique. We believe it dates from the early 1900’s and was found in France.
A maquette (the French word for a scale model, sometimes referred to by the Italian names plastico or modello) is a small-scale model or rough draft of an unfinished sculpture. An equivalent term is bozzetto, from the Italian word that means “sketch”.
This genuine antique has a wonderful rustic weathered patina. A wonderful decorator’s accent, stylist’s prop or quirky decorative antique. This unique horse model would look wonderful on top of a console table.
Please expect the condition of this horse to be worn, it’s in unrestored condition and that’s how it needs to stay. Its charm is in its imperfections(please refer to the images for details on condition).
Although this lovely horse front will stand independently when leant against the wall on top of a shelf, you may choose to add a fixing to the flat area to the back to allow you to hand the horse independently on the wall.
