Description
Antique Grain Thresher | Deryn
Irregular shape with one side at more acute angle that the other (can be propped up on one side to make it appear symmetric or you can embrace the organic nature of this item)
Dating from the 18th Century wooden grain threshers were embedded with flints or sharpened stones. Used to remove the grain from the ears of wheat in an agricultural setting. These were designed by the Romans to be pulled by donkeys over the cut wheat to help remove the wheat from the chaff and the ears from the stalks.
This item is ancient and is in used and imperfect condition with missing flints, rust marks, deep gouges, paint splashes, and stains as it was used as an agricultural tool and dragged around a field and stored in a barn for its entire life. Please expect historic woodworm holes and worn conditions.
Use as a decorative item, mounted or leaning against the wall.
