Antique Grain Thresher | Ugo

An unusual Antique Grain Thresher | Ugo.  This antique grain thresher dates from the 18th Century. Wooden grain threshers were traditionally embedded with flints or sharpened stones and were used to remove the grain from the ears of wheat in an agricultural setting.  These were designed by the Romans and were pulled by donkeys over the cut wheat to help remove the wheat from the chaff and the ears from the stalks.

This item is ancient and is in used and imperfect condition with missing flints, rust marks, deep gouges, paint splashes, and stains as it was used as an agricultural tool and dragged around a field and stored in a barn for its entire life.  Please expect historic woodworm holes and worn conditions.

You could use this unique rustic wooden sculpture as a decorative item, mounted or leaning against the wall.

Pallet delivery/Postage delivery

Delivery will need to take place either with a specialist door to door courier or on a pallet.  This item is too large and heavy to be delivered in a parcel by any of the UK parcel providers.

When delivery takes place on a pallet it will be to kerbside and you will need to remove the item from its packaging and carry it from your threshold and into your home or garden.  Please see our terms and conditions at the bottom of our home page to understand what is involved in pallet delivery.

When delivery takes place via courier, please be prepared to help to move the item from the van to just inside your door.

If you are in Wales, North of England, Devon and Cornwall or East coast, Northumberland, Cumbria, North Yorkshire, Norfolk, Suffolk and Lancashire and occasionally other areas a surcharge may apply. Once you have checked out will will be in touch with you within two working days to discuss any surcharges which may be applicable, we try not to make additional charges but sometimes minimal additional charges will apply.
