Antique officials chair | Mei

A stylishly simple yoke back chair which has been historically stripped of all it’s lacquer and paint over the passage of time – our antique officials chair | Mei now has tactile sun bleached surfaces.

This type of chair is also known as a hat chair as the top rail was often used to hand a hat on whilst seated.

The turned top rail is attached with custom made cast iron clasps. This chair is made from elm and poplar woods.

These chairs are entirely regionally hand made and originate from Shanxi Province in China.  They are 19th century so well over 100 years old.

The high backs of these gorgeous chairs make them a real statement piece perfect for an entrance hall or landing.

As this item is too large to be delivered by parcel it will be delivered by pallet or by courier.  Pallet charge will be applied at the checkout.
