Large Antique Merchants Trunk | Josephine

Made in the mid to late 18th Century in China as a merchants trunk. The defining feature of the beautiful elm trunk is that its sides are made from single pieces of very wide timber.  The ‘staples’ were added at some point to strengthen the box.

A simply stunning chest with a slide opening top.  It’s ancient timbers are worn smooth with time and have a beautiful sun bleached appearance. This is a unique piece.

Its large interior is clean and ready to use for storage of paperwork or linens.  This item would make superb coffee table.

This item is in original condition and is weathered and worn not refurbished and polished – please expect imperfections as seen in our additional photographs. A robust and heavy item of furniture which is solid and honest.

Delivery of this beautiful trunk will need to take place via specialist courier or on a pallet as it is too large and heavy to send as a parcel.

When delivery takes place on a pallet the delivery will be to the kerbside and you will need to unpack and take the item off and carry it indoors by yourself.  You will also need to dispose of the pallet.
