Rare Antique Yellow Glazed Olive Oil Urn | Cadmium (with no handles) £160

Our olive oil pots come in all shapes and sizes but they are very rarely found in this beautiful rich buttery yellow colour.

Our antique natural terracotta Mediterranean urn would originally have been used for storing olive oil and are now the perfect antique home or garden accessory. They commonly adorn the steps and patios of coastal homes. They look beautiful and very sculptural completely empty inside the home but can be used outdoors planted.In the garden, they must be protected from static freezing water/soil if planted.  In the wintertime, if you leave them outdoors, simply turn upside down so that they can not fill with water which will freeze (if you make a drainage hole to the bottom there is no need to do this). If you establish a plant inside these pots simply use a plastic pot within which will allow for expansion and contraction of frozen soil and water.  If you do fill the pot with the soil we would recommend that you do not allow the pot and contents to freeze over winter.

Each pot is around 80-100 year old: please expect vintage imperfect condition.  None of our pots has any large structural cracks but small chip and dents are part of their inherently unique look. There are often traces of olive oil inside the pots.
